The Hottest Restaurants in Atlanta Right Now, March 2020

While the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it’s not a chronicle of the “it” places of the moment. Thus, there’s the Eater Heatmap, which changes periodically to highlight where to eat currently around Atlanta. Since this is a spotlight on what’s happening right now, room must be made for fresh and new restaurants.

In this month’s edition, it’s time to say goodbye to Redbird, Buena Vida, the Pantry and Provisions, Southern Belle, and Chirori, and say hello to Okiboru Tsukemen and Ramen, Little Bear, My Abuelas, Ruby Chow’s, and Jimmy’z Kitchen.

Eat Me Speak Me pop-up chef Jarrett Stieber opened his first restaurant, Little Bear, in Summerhill this winter. Named for the chef’s bear-like Great Pyrenees mountain dog, the low-key neighborhood restaurant features 12 shareable dishes on the menu broken out into hot, cold, and sweet sections. Dishes listed include Stieber’s tongue-in-cheek descriptions, like catfish okonomiyaki served with 1990s-style mayo and brown sauce drizzles or apples and pork belly “drowning” in Sichuan chile oil. For dessert, there’s the gold rice pudding topped with an “unnecessary garnish.” Beer, wines by the glass and bottle, and a handful of cocktails available. Reservations encouraged.
